  1. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) is currently in negotiations with Hollywood studios over a new contract. If the two sides cannot reach an agreement, SAG members could go on strike. One of the key issues in the negotiations is the use of AI in the entertainment industry. SAG is concerned that AI could lead to job losses for actors, as studios could use AI to create digital doubles of actors or to generate new content without the need for human actors.[1]
  2. Google Bard gets upgrades. The company has confirmed that Bard is now equipped with text-to-speech in 40 languages such as Hindi, Spanish, and US English. Aside from new features, Google also expanded the accessibility of Bard in 27 countries in the EU and Brazil.[2]
  3. TikToker Izzy Mignone is going viral for a clip where she shows an AI extension for Google Calendar called Reclaim AI that helps schedule (and reschedule) your calendar based on events you input and its time restrictions, whether recurring weekly appointments or one-time events (like a party).[3]
  4. The Associated Press (AP) and ChatGPT parent company OpenAI have reached a news-sharing agreement. It doesn’t involve AI chatbots quickly churning out content, but rather a way for OpenAI to train its algorithmic models, as reported by Axios. The two-year deal gives OpenAI access to select news content and technology from the AP archives, dating back to 1985. All of this sweet, sweet data will be used to improve the efficacy of future iterations of ChatGPT and related tools.[4]
